MFW: Marni

“Bare trees can be as beautiful as leafy ones, and the same goes for a Marni collection. Even with very few of her demonstrative, retro-tinged patterns, Consuelo Castiglioni’s latest effort was captivating.” (WWD)

The fresh woodsy atmosphere gave way to a new romantic feel to the Fall/Winter 2013 Marni collection. As opposed to other collections, Marni’s had a masculine base, using tweed and harsh silhouettes. However, softness was added with corsets and pleats.

Fur was definitely seen in many of the pieces, with accents in the gloves, around the shoulders and many others. The garments were loosely fitted and some had sheer cutouts. Classic rounded shouldered coats made an appearance in different textures and lengths. Dresses were then featured with large fringe at the bottom giving more movement to the previously somewhat constricted garments. The patterns, although new and fresh still embodied the quirkiness that Marni pieces are consistant with, such as forest scenery, large floral print as well as others.
